Settled in Singapore - Its $#@% hot here

Greetings from balmy Singapore. I am sending this to a list of friends and family to let you know that I have arrived and settled quite well and that this is my new email address. I am going to pretend you all are interested in what I am about to write. Forgive me if, to you, it is more like spam.

So, I have been here for four days and have accomplished:

Moving into my apartment,
getting furniture delivered and set up (some, anyway)
getting an employment pass
getting a bus/mrt pass (very cool card that you store money on - every bus and mrt has these electronic readers that simply deduct your fare
food shopping (pb & j, cereal, plastic plates and forks, beer...you know, just like in college)
buying a computer
getting internet, cable tv, phone - just signed up today, will be all set in about a week
joining the american club - where I am writing this from, since I do not have internet at home yet
trying to stay cool - it is very toasty here - it takes about 1 minute outside to start up a good sweat - I am learning how to walk underground as much as possible
researching, but not yet booking, a trip to Bali in July when the family arrives
emailing and calling home - a lot

So, anyway, all is well here. It has been busy. Not much work yet, but I am off to Korea this coming week. It is about a 7 hour flight, so no rest for the weary.

If your in the neighborhood, give me a shout!

Hey Jed...I just got on the blog site and enjoyed reading about your time there. We are anxiously awaiting the 2 girls tomorrow. Nichole (who has a GREAT car!) and I will pick them up tomorrow at the airport and then head to Dorney Park for the day. (Amusement rides and water park) We can't wait to see them. I talked to Dad yesterday and he said that you were home for the weekend. I'm sure that was fun for the family! Well, I just wanted to say that I am proud of you for eating the durian and to let you know that one of my first meals I was served here in PA was pig stomach and I also ate it!!!! Keep writing, it is so fun to see pictures and hear about what you are doing. love, Jennifer
